Property is accessed from Calle Alta, in the very centre of the village, just behind the church and the village hall, and close to several traditional bars and a couple of restaurants. Calle Alta is a hill climbing from the main square and the property is therefore tranquil and silent. THE STREET: Calle Alta is a steep hill with some steps, and therefore pedestrianized, silent and tranquil albeit very central, only 50 m from the main square. THE VILLAGE is a true, traditional, completely unspoilt white Andalucian village, with very little if any tourists. It has won the prize to the most beautiful village in Andalucia twice in the last 10 years. There are several bars and restaurants in the village, as well as convenience stores, a dispensing chemist, butchers, bakers, ironmongers and a small hardware store, as well as several builders. There is also a primary school, a doctor surgery and a large public swimming pool. THE AREA is spectacular, with incredible views everywhere you look. Rolling valleys and the spectacular, dramatic mountains of the Serrania de Ronda surround it. The village sits on the edge of the Grazalema National Park, famous for its abundant wildlife (particularly birds) and its wealth of rare flora. The neighbouring reservoir, from the vantage point at the edge of the village, provides one of the most beautiful views in rural Andalucia. Large griffin vultures and golden eagles can be seen from the terrace and everywhere around, as well as many smaller birds and other animals. Also, the nearby Parque Lobo is the only place in Europe where wolves can be seen in their habitat in near freedom, this is an unforgettable experience. RONDA: The nearest sizeable city is Ronda, 27 km away (20 min by car). Ronda is World famous for its dramatic gorge and bridge, its cliff hanging houses and its bullring, the oldest in Spain. It is a very historical modern city with all facilities, from large supermarkets to golf courses. ANDALUCIA: El Gastor is perfectly located for the exploration of this region. Sevilla (75 min drive), Granada (2 hrs), Cordoba (2hrs 30 min) are 3 gems of World history which can be one day excursions, and Jerez de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera, Cadiz, the beaches of Tarifa and Costa de la Luz, Malaga and Gibraltar are all less than 2 hrs drive away. This makes the property an ideal location for exploring Andalucia and gives it very good rental potential for tourists. Also, Morocco is only 1 hr by boat from Tarifa and Gibraltar, which means it is possible to reach Africa from the house in 3hrs, 3hrs30min. Whale watching is also possible in the Straits of Gibraltar. AIRPORTS: The apartment is very well communicated with the UK. It is possible to fly to Malaga (many airlines), Sevilla (Iberia, Clickair and Ryanair) and Jerez (Ryanair and Iberia), all of them daily.
